In 1987, Karla moved to San Francisco, bringing her International Hour line to Macys, Nordstom and many special boutiques. In 1991, the landmark wedding dress in her F.C. Hour collection uses the uchikakei, a traditional Japanese wedding kimono, whose creation involved an intricate and demanding manipulation of lushly embroidered fabric. "The dress represents a re-interpretation of a timeless Asian theme in a modern context,"
